The Story
Growing up in the Bronx Patterson projects, I understood that I came from an area with not much promise. Surrounded by bricks, that tough exterior established character and I was inspired. Visiting a friend in an affluent neighborhood, their living room and kitchen area had exposed brick. To see it in one of the wealthiest neighborhoods inside of someone’s home, I thought to myself, this is living and it opened my eyes to so many possibilities I did not see before. I felt that anything was possible.
Coming from a family of sewers, and a grandfather who is a pattern maker, talent was passed down through generations. The bins of fabric lying around my grandmother's home inspired me to take the initiative and make use of my talent. Having a keen eye for detail and color, I realized I wanted to use clothing as a way to impact people’s lives. I want to be known for extravagant prints and vibrant eye-catching colors, as well as taking fashion risks to a higher level.
This realization birthed a new identity, a new journey for a new and better mindset. This collection fuses the evolution and elements that create Kevin Cherry NY.
